Physical Security: Access to Workspaces and Equipment

If you’re new here and do not know many of your fellow workers, do not hold the door open for strangers: people claiming to need to make a delivery, forgot their keycard, etc. If someone needs access to your space, send them to reception on the 5th floor.

If you deal with confidential information the data agreements often have the requirement that your screen not be visible to casual view. Arrange your monitor(s) so they cannot be viewed from your doorway. Screen protectors that limit the viewing angle are also available.

When dealing with confidential data you are required to lock it up each day in a filing cabinet or desk – printouts, DVDs, external hard drives. A combination locked, fire resistant filing cabinet and a safe are available in IT for long-term storage of original data.
